Alaska's Heritage Lodge/Backcountry Warriors

Guests from England tonight! So COOL! This is what they saw when they pulled off the main road onto the property today. I am ecstatic with the way this is turning out. SO MUCH WORK, but so worth it! Our new 1 acre lawn coming in nicely 🙂 ... See MoreSee Less

About Us

Hello everyone! We are Kevin and Sheila Monson. Welcome to Alaska's Heritage Lodge! We sold everything we owned and moved to Alaska in 1999. We love Alaska and everything that it has to offer for people who love wilderness and the great outdoors. We love it here in Willow and want to share our experiences and our lodge with you! We have been in the hospitality industry for over 14 years. We love people and love to listen to their stories. We can hardly wait to hear yours!

Why We Chose Willow, Alaska

We  purchased this lodge in 2016. Our property and business "Alaska's Heritage Lodge" is located in Willow Alaska. It is LAKEFRONT! Willow is the most amazing wilderness playground anywhere! We also wanted something that would have the ability to host summer AND winter guests and events. We chose this place over all others because we are so strategically located close to EVERYTHING. Denali Park, Talkeetna, The Deshka River, (Salmon Fishing) hiking, biking, snowmobiling, everything Alaskan! The Iditarod Trail and race goes right by us on Crystal Lake! Nothing else will offer you all of this. Come enjoy it with us!

What Makes This Lodge Unique

After living in Alaska for 16 years and raising our kids here. Watching them get married and go onto their own lives, we were at a crossroads in our life. Do we step back and relax? Or go big? We operated a B&B in our home in Wasilla and decided we wanted to take our hospitality to the next level. After 6 months of looking, several crushing disappointments when trying to purchase a remote property, and almost giving up, we drove into this place. Things happen for a reason! We KNEW this was it. Very remote but easy to drive to. Lake front with tons of wildlife. So quiet you can a pin drop. Momma moose with baby in the yard. The Iditarod Trail goes right by our dock in the winter time. We hit the mother-lode! Perfect for summer and winter vacations. We could go on and on. We would love it if you would come and experience these things with us!

Guest Testimonial

"Kevin and Sheila are the nicest hosts anyone could find. I wanted to shout "Eureka" for finding this place, my first B&B. Beautiful home and surroundings right on lake. Comfortable beds. Rooms are on a floor with small kitchen and door to outside near lake. Perfect for single or large groups. Excellent breakfast but their hospitality goes far beyond that. Also, they are very helpful and knowledgeable about the surrounding areas and Alaska."
