So Sheila and don’t know what happened. We are sure that our resident squirrel “Wooly” succumbed to one of the many predators around here. Haven’t seen him since June. Average lifespan of a North American Red Squirrel is 2-3 years. Nature is harsh. A few days ago this little female showed up and promptly set up shop. She is relentless. Here at the crack of dawn. This morning it was 8 degrees. There she was gathering and storing all day without rest. This photo was taken last night. It was almost dark she was hard at it. So much fun to watch 🙂 ... Overview/About Us

Alaska's Heritage Lodge is a peaceful quiet adult only lakefront retreat and gathering place that fosters relationships and encourages inspiration and vision for your future. We are on gorgeous Crystal Lake in beautiful Willow, Alaska, and a short 35 minute drive from Talkeetna. We are on 4 lakefront acres that are easily accessible by vehicle by paved road winter or summer.  You can also fly in by bush plane on floats in the summer and skis in the winter. The lodge has 5 rooms and 3 bathrooms and can sleep 22 guests in beds. Willow is the most amazing wilderness playground anywhere! We wanted something that would have the ability to host summer AND winter guests and events.  With 250 miles of groomed winter trails the Backcountry of Alaska can be accessed right from our property by snowmachine, cross country skis, fat tire bike, or just going for a winter walk on the lake. We chose this place over all others because we are so strategically located close to EVERYTHING. Denali Park, Talkeetna, The Deshka River, (Salmon Fishing) hiking, biking, snowmobiling, everything Alaskan! The Iditarod Trail and race goes right by us on Crystal Lake! Nothing else will offer you all of this. Come enjoy it with us!

Guest Testimonial

"Kevin and Sheila are the nicest hosts anyone could find. I wanted to shout "Eureka" for finding this place, my first B&B. Beautiful home and surroundings right on lake. Comfortable beds. Rooms are on a floor with small kitchen and door to outside near lake. Perfect for single or large groups. Excellent breakfast but their hospitality goes far beyond that. Also, they are very helpful and knowledgeable about the surrounding areas and Alaska."
