Northern Lights Viewing at Alaska's Heritage Lodge Willow, Alaska
Welcome to Northern Lights Vacations, Tours and Viewing at Alaska’s Heritage Lodge in Willow, Alaska! Enjoy watching the Northern Lights while staying at our beautiful lodge on the Iditarod trail in Willow Alaska. Because of the long nights in Alaska it is not uncommon to see them at all hours of the day and night because of the winter low light conditions here. There is never any guarantee the Aroura will be showing. Storms and solar flares from the sun send gusts of charged particles toward earth. When the charged particles hit molecules and atoms in the earth’s atmosphere, they light up. This is what causes the Northern Lights or Aroura. And now they can predict these storms several days ahead of time. Just like the weather, Aurora forecasters know almost to the minute when the Aurora will hit, and how long it will last, and their intensity. Bottom line? We have more clear skies in the winter here than in the summer. And when the Northern Lights are out? They are fabulous! There is no ambient light at our lodge. No city lights, no streetlights, or yard lights. Just amazing northern lights! We would love you to experience this with us! Call us to book your Northern Lights vacation today!
The Iditarod goes right by our lodge!
